Is it time to service? Signs that your Mac needs to be serviced!

Macs are some of the most powerful devices ever made, nevertheless, there comes a time when every Mac user will experience some signs that their device is not performing the way it used to. These could be signs that your Mac needs to be serviced. At times most of the signs go unnoticed which would lead to severe consequences. Fear not as we at One Mac have made a list of signs to watch out for in your Mac with the help of our skillful engineers.

  • Slow Performance
If your Mac is noticeably becoming slower over time this could indicate that your Mac needs a service. Delays in opening applications, sluggish response times, and an overall feeling of slowness could indicate various issues. These problems can easily be overcome by cleaning up and application of new thermal paste.
  • Overheating
Overheating is quite a common occurrence in Macs as the computing load is increased. When the machine is being pushed to its peak performance, overheating can be considered negligible, however overheating on normal usage can be a sign that your Mac needs to be serviced. Ignoring overheating will lead to performance issues and in the worst cases, potential damage to internal components.
  • Strange/Unusual Noises
If you notice any noises that are coming from your Mac, it’s high time to investigate the noise promptly. Strange noises such as clicking, grinding, or fan noises could indicate a hardware problem in play. Checking up on these noises upon notice is a great way to prevent further damage.
  • Hardware & Software Issues
If you face a hardware issue, such as a faulty webcam, the fix can be as easy as a minute repair or a software reset. Software issues could be due to running older or non-compatible versions with your current MacOS. Less complex hardware and software issues can be addressed while servicing and fixed easily. Note – Broken hardware or complex software issues cannot be fixed while servicing your Mac in our Full Service for Macs*
  • Ant infestation
Ant infestations on Macs are considered relatively rare but not unheard of. Due to various factors such as food particles, warmth, or electrical currents, ants are fond of making your Mac their home. If ants are present near your Mac or visibly trailing in through your ports this could indicate ant infestation and a full service would eliminate them.
  • Your Environment
Since we live in a tropical country we love spending/living near the ocean, however, our Macs find it hard. Due to higher humidity and salt content in the air. If your experience any corrosion, water damage, or persistent issues this could be a sign to service.

Extra Tips from our Engineers

  • Yearly service is recommended (between 8-12 months) for any Mac device.
  • Our technicians suggest that any Mac which still is under warranty not be serviced since it voids the warranty given and any issues related can be claimed through warranty!
